Waterfall pump motor

I just replaced a waterfall pump motor that was destroyed by fire ants. The pump is a Waterfall Specialty Pump PAC-FAB, AFP-75. I was unable to read the description lable on the pump motor so I am wondering if I may have undersized the motor. The shaft spins freely and it runs fine under no load conditions but when I prime it and it starts pumping it cycles off shortly due to the internal over temp safety switch. It will continue to cycle on and off if left turned on. Does anyone know what HP motor this pump requires? Also the wireing and supply voltage check out fine with a 220V supply and the motor is set up for 220V. The motor I installed is a A. O. Smith 1/2 HP. 220/110V 9.6/4.8 amp.

Green pool water

I have an inground pool about 18,000 gallons with a DE filter system and a 2 1/2 horse pump. I have several trees that dump all kinds of leaves and other debris in my pool starting in the Fall, which I try very hard to keep out of the pool. This Fall I was not very successful and a lot of leaves accumulated and broke down into a lot of sediment. I managed to get all of the sediment out of the pool but am left with green water (somewhere I read something about chlorophyll leaching out of the leaves and into the water) which I cant seem to completely eliminate. I have been through about a box of DE in the last few weeks trying to get the water clear but just cant seem to get the last of the sediment out. I backwash my filter when the pressure increases by 10 pounds which doesnt take long, but after weeks of this the water is still green. The green is not algae, I have no algae in the pool, I think this is chlorophyll. At any rate, I cant get my pool water clear and I've never had this problem before. My water has gotten cloudy/green in the past but I've never had to try this hard to get it clear again. Do I just keep backflushing until it gets clear? A box of DE and still green? This is a little frustrating.

Pool Deck Paint/Stain and Joint Selant question/advice needed

Hi All...

Need some advice from the

experts....Seems I got myself in a pickle in regards to the combination of

products I used on my concrete pool deck two years ago. I had re-painted my

deck with an oil based pool white paint/stain...I think I got it from Lowes or

HD...In addition, I used Sonneborn NP1 joint sealant as well. What I am

noticing over this time is that the paint/stain is peeling...and that’s not

good as I was under the assumption oil based would be more durable on a

deck even though it was pre-painted...my prep was done by scrubbing and bleaching

the deck before I re- painted it...so I’m baffled?...Also, I bought the

Sonneborn for the joint and on this site...it says its paintable...well its

peeling as well??..Big Time!

So my question is....

1. What should I use this spring to

re-paint my deck over the existing oil based product I used?...Can I use an

water based product?...How should I prep if I have to re-use an oil based or

have to re-paint using a new product?

2. If Sonneborn is what I used and it’s

peeling...what should I use?

Thx all for your help...Very much

appreciated

Lance
[Edited on 1/22/2012]

I have recently encountered a problem.

I have a swimming pool which is disinfected with salt electrolysis.
However, the controller (of a rather major manufacturer) which shows the levels of Ph and Cl,

has a platinum electrode. I was told that because of the electorlysis, the by-product H2
is preventing the electrode of showing the right indications.

Is this right? Because the H2 levels are rather low.
Could it be that the platinum probe can only be used with certain systems of disinfection?

Is there a difference between a gold and a platinum probe?

I would appreciate any response

vacuum suction problems

I have been cleaning this pool for a year now. I never had an issue with the vacuum untill a few months ago. I use the filter setting to vacuum the pool and I always keep the skimmer basket in while I vacuum (so I don't think that the pluming is clogged). It starts out with good suction for about five minutes then gets real weak. The only way I get it to work better is to put in on recirculate for a few seconds then put it back on filter. It works for a few minutes but then gets weak again. I have to repeat the actions above untill the pool is vacuumed and it is getting really old.

Again, I don't think the pluming is clogged. The skimmer basket is not full (I am just trying to vacuum dirt, no leaves). The pump basket is clean. The filter works fine in every day filtering, it also wastes and backwashes fine.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Chad
